Gabe has been really into learning about countries and states lately. So I decided to show off and I sang the states REALLY fast for him from the song "Fifty Nifty United States" (that I had learned in sixth grade). He was VERY impressed!! So for the past few weeks he has been working on learning all of the states. If you know Gabe, you know he becomes sort of obsessed with things. So I am proud to say that now Gabe, at 5 1/2, is a self-taught reader, animal expert, AND master of the 50 states!! I know I'm bragging a little but I thought I would share...
He's now moved on to pointing to the states as he sings them....

He is a cutie!! I'm very impressed!!
Callon Loved watching Gabe!!
Great job Gabe!!!
That is Awesome!
That is so impressive. Andy wouldn't come in here so I turned it up really loud and made him listen. Maybe Andy can teach him We Didn't Start the Fire...
I am super impressed. I am pretty positive I couldn't: 1) sing that song, or 2) even name all 50 states. I probably shouldn't admit that...
While the kids and I watched this 3 times I tried to learn it and Corban said, "Mommy, maybe we should just listen." Ouch!
Way to go Gabe- you are a Super Star! This is the kind of kid EVERY teacher wants in her class- kind heart and loves to learn- great combo!
Katie: I am really impressed. I teach the 50 Nifty United States songs to my 5th graders for a grade!!I am in the middle of my kindergarten program right now. I wish I had Gabe in it. He would be my star!!
Gabe, Aunt Linda loved that you can do the memory work that her
5th graders are doing. When you are ready, I have a states and capital song that you can learn!!
(tune to "Turkey in the Straw")
Love, Aunt Linda
Oh, I miss that little overachiever in class!! I think I was in 4th or 5th grade when I learned that song! Very impressive...not only can he name all 50 but he can do it alphabetically!!
That is amazing. He is so cute. I wish I had him in my class :).
